The person in the white-black photo is very young. There is only a smile on his face. My grandpa was wearing a solder uniform in the picture, which was taken in 1963.
Originally, he was supposed to live in Mainland China. Because the Kuomintang lost the war, he came to Taiwan along with the military. As a result, he was separated form his family. So he decided to start a family which belongs to him.
My grandpa married my grandma and have three children. One of them is my father. At that time, they did not have enough money for entertainment though they did not starve.
A few years later, my grandpa retired form the military. Unfortunately, an car accident happened to him which he got badly injured. Form then on, he couldn’t walk easily, let a lone, stand and sit. I sometimes helped him, too.
I still remembered when my grandpa was still healthy, he loved to cook eggs for me. The eggs tasted smooth, delicious, and great. but after the bad injury, he couldn’t cook any more.
On July 2nd, 2006, my aunt who was taking care of my grandpa, told us a break news– he had passed away. All the members of my family rushed into the hospital. that was the last time I saw my grandpa.
I never cook any eggs for my grandpa when he was still alive. But I would always remember the smells of the eggs that my grandpa did.
